I grew up in London, England. I had a colourful and loving childhood, the majority of which was spent backstage in theatres and on TV sets, watching my parents perform. I have vivid memories of my dad in his dressing room, putting on his painted face. Sometimes false beards, sometimes elaborate costumes. My mum wore a million dresses, with fabulous eye shadows and shoes I would slip my tiny feet into and pretend they were mine. It never even occurred to me to do anything else, all I wanted was to be just like them.
I've always loved to create. Whether it's a cake or a card or a dress. I love wrapping gifts. I love DIY. I love anything and everything that involves my imagination. I am beyond grateful, and sometimes in disbelief, that I am somehow paying my bills this way. Music, characters, images... it's like entering your favourite little paint store or haberdashery and never having to leave.
I've been fortunate enough to travel through my career, which is an incredible blessing. I've seen things I otherwise may never have seen, and learned to take risks and venture out alone, even when I thought it wasn't in me. Every new place, every new person, is a new piece of informtaion, a new tool with which to create something different. My favourite thing about life, is that is grows and changes with you. You can never know it all. Wouldn't it be boring if we did.
At this time in my early 20's, life is all about fun. I'm trying to make choices that have direction, but also allow me to take a few risks, before I become responsible for something greater than myself.
Here's to having a laugh, enjoying old friends, and making many new ones.
